Five years strong, there's no better way to describe West Grand Boulevard's exciting journey to the present. Fresh off the release of their debut album Life, Love And A Loss For Better Words, the quintet has long been known for their aggressive, catchy brand of alternative rock, and for sweaty, adrenaline-filled gigs complete with bodysurfers and moshpits. The band’s approach to music is to draw openly from any and all genres, to not feel restricted stylistically in any way, with a focus on strong melodic hooks and powerful harmonies.
In 2012, the band has won the "Band I Want To Throw Myself At" award at the annual Youth Choice Media Awards. A crowd favourite, the rockers have graced luminous stages like the 2011 Men's Fashion Week.
In 2010, West Grand Boulevard performs for the world’s inaugural Youth Olympic Games. The boys open the prestigious Baybeats 2009 music festival while also opening for Rico Blanco (ex-frontman of Rivermaya). They also have been one of the artistes for the youth.sg Feedme youth campaign in 2008.
Having extensively toured the Philippines (Manila and Cebu), the quintet performed in Sonic Boom Festival in 2007. In addition, West Grand Boulevard is Nokia’s first Singaporean IAC artist. This is part of Nokia’s international Independent Artist Club program allowing distribution, sale and mobile downloading of WGB songs from anywhere in the world via Nokia cellphones. The band members are also activists for the Speak Good English Movement, an initiative by Singapore’s National Library Board.
West Grand Boulevard is sponsored by Macbeth Singapore and Klotz Cables.
